Natural Q & A

Q: What is your hair texture?
A: My hair is texlaxed and transitioning

Q: Should I big chop?
A: Hmmm. Only if your ends are really chemically processed, or if your natural hair is taking a long time to grow.

Q: My hair is so thick and unmanageable. What should I do?
A: Most times just wear a wig.

Q: Should I use heat in my hair?
A: Sure. Why not? Just protect you hair each time. If your hair is a thin texture or fragile, avoid it (heat). Wear wig or extensions and style them. Side bar Some hair textures actually thrive on heat.

Q: My scalp is so tender and sore and my hair is thinning. What should I do?
A: Sounds like you were wearing to many extensions that were not installed properly. Or you applied heat directly to your scalp too many times or you didn't perm/relaxed your hair properly. It could be a number of things. What you should do is give your scalp a break from styling. Let it breathe, wear a wig--not extensions. Go Natural for a while.

Q: I was natural for a long time. Now I want to perm/ relax my hair. What is your advice?
A: I suggest that you wear a wig. Sometimes you feel a certain way, then act on it, then regret it. However, if you want to relax it, take a much more healthier approach (i.e. deep conditioning, tex laxing, cowashing, protective styling and daily moisturizing) Every texture is different.

Q: What is the best brand of perm/relaxer in your opinion?
A: Dr. Miracle.

Q: What are some good hair products to use on my natural hair?
A: Click on my "Natural Hair Products" tab on my blog.

Q: What kind of supplements should I use?
A: I suggest biotin, msm, dht blockers.

Q: What is a semi permanent hair straightening product?
A: You can try a product line called Liscio. It lasts for 8 months.

Q: Do you have a youtube channel?
A: Yes. It is http://www.youtube.com/user/kwatson20122468

Q: Is there a general regimen that you go by?
A: Wash, condition, seal your ends, mositurize. If you are almost completely "heatless", use a spray bottle with water to spray on your hair while styling.

Q: Could you suggest some styling(heat) products?
A: A Hair dryer, flat iron, hot comb (if you have very thick resistant hair), hair curler, hair bonnet, curling wands of all sizes.

Q: One word "Detangling"?
A: Section your hair into four, part a little bit of hair with a wide teeth comb (comb from the bottom up), moisturize, seal, and then two strand twist it.Afterwards style it how you want. Some people prefer using detangling brushes.
